When transferring files using FTP there is the binary option and the text option. If you are using reasonable FTP tools, then you should be able to specify text transfers. The whole reason for that mode is to translate things like line endings. I generally have my FTP defaults set to binary so that things like .pdf files don't get ruined but this is a case where you want the other option.

FTP is not the issue. A Tango TAF file (the old Tango!) is essentially a binary file and is transferred as such. The problem is inside the Tango editor on the PC where it forces CRLF line endings. On the Mac, the Tango editor uses CR line endings. This does not cause a problem anywhere EXCEPT when writing a file for the SIMS submitted folder. Just about everything else in Tango ends up being rendered as HTML, and browsers don't seem to care what kind of line endings you have.

But the file that is handed to SIMS has to have Mac endings - at least in the headers.

In any case, I now have a work around (thanks all) and think this thread is straying too far OT for SIMS. I will be glad to continue the discussion directly with anyone who wants more info, but I will stop replying on SIMS-Discussions.
