Hi,
I can't imagine why Record-Route was mandated in
401/484 at that point in time. Even if it was, ACK to
such responses must not contain Route headers since
the ACK to any non-2xx should follow the same path as
the original INVITE. Including Route headers in the ACK
would violate this basic requirement.
Just checked : Sec 5.1.1 of bis-03 clearly
states the above.
Hope that helps,

Thanks for reply..
I am referring to the draft draft-ietf-sip-rfc2543bis-03, as I need to
communicate with SIP proxy which follows this draft version. In this Table
5 says 2xx,401 & 484 can include Record-Route.
In such case, does ACK need to contain Route header?
Thanks,
Meena

Hi,
Record-Route's make sense only in 1xx/2xx responses.
It doesn't make sense in non-2xx responses since you're
not establishing a dialog anyway. ACK's for 2xx responses
only need to contain the Route headers.
Ref: Table 2-3 in RFC 3261.

Subject: [Sip-implementors] Record-Route
Hi,
I have a question about Record-Route. As for as I understood only 401 &
484 among non-200 response includes Record-Route. All other non-200
response doesn't include them. Does the ACK for 401, 484 and 2xx
responses need to include the route headers?
Can someone clarify this for me?
Thanks,
Meena
