Hi, The responsibility of generating and sending the ACK request for failure response is transaction layer. Any Sip Entity will have the transaction layer implementation (Exclusive of state less proxy). And transaction layer will stores the destination information with its for that perticuler transaction.

How the proxy is able to generate a ACK in this case? and how it will know that ACK has to send to that particular destination? is it based on the source IP and port from where the message is received?
