In my case I do know that my proxy doesn't behave as a stateless proxy so I see no reason to forward a CANCEL if it doesn't match a server transaction. Could then the proxy generate a 481 by its own? or should it discard the CANCEL request and reply nothing? _______________________________________________ It seems that the text you quote was written poorly. Certainly, if the proxy never does stateless forwarding, then it cannot do stateless forwarding of the CANCEL -- since the implied processing is "forward the CANCEL statelessly to the same destinations that the INVITE would be forwarded to statelessly". In such a case, it would be perfectly safe to send a 481 response to the CANCEL.
