What is the use case for having discovered phones inherit configuration from a Group? My hope is that we could filter for unprovisioned Phones without a Group. i.e. Add "-unprovisioned-" between "-all-" and "-search-". Only Phones with exactly zero Lines assigned would show up under this filter. This filter would be most useful under Users->xxx->Phones->Add existing phones. > That would require using plug-in based discovery mechanism > and implementing discovery plug-on that works by analyzing > DHCP server logs (that's actually one of the cheapest and > most effective way of discovering new devices). Only works if sipXecs is the DHCP server, right? That isn't always the case. I'm told lots of sites use some Microsoft product... I think we want something that works regardless of which server (if any) is providing DHCP. The XX-6490 prototype will show how it can be done for Polycoms. > > - Should a User be able to provision and/or un-provision a > phone? A user's credentials can assign that phone to that user. The superadmin credentials can provision that phone for any user. A _provisioned_ phone interacts with the IVR. This call is from one of the registered lines on the phone, which is associated with a sipXconfig user. That user's credentials can un-assign that user from that phone. The superadmin credentials can un-assign all users from that phone. > Yes - once provisioned phone has to be visible just like > other phones. A special group for this means that the Phone has a "Groups" edit box, which will show or not show the special group, depending on whether there is a Line assigned. My problem with this approach is that the Groups value editable. It'll be confusing to have a special entry that may appear or disappear, but that you cannot add or remove directly. -Paul [email protected] _______________________________________________ sipx-dev mailing list [email protected] List Archive: http://list.sipfoundry.org/archive/sipx-dev Unsubscribe: http://list.sipfoundry.org/mailman/listinfo/sipx-dev sipXecs IP PBX -- http://www.sipfoundry.org/
