I've noticed while using a Polycom 450 phone on 4.0.3 some differences in
dialing from the phone. For example, calling a number with pre-dialing on
the pad, and then lifting the handset produces a completed call. Yet,
picking up the handset and dialing the same digits, the call either doesn't
go out without pressing send, or it errors, depending on the setting in the
dial plan. The problem is fixable by changing the dial string, but it seems
odd that it works when predialed and terminates correctly, but doesn't when
dialed with the handset lifted.

I tried the same with a Polycom 501 and didn't have these differences. This
is running both phones on 4.2 bootrom, and 3.1.3c split firmware. Is this
an expected behavior, or something that has been seen before, or something
that should be written up for Jira?
