Well, let me clarify ... for compatibility (and because it's almost as
easy) we should leave the options there and just change the defaults.
The default for all of these (and future such) should be that the
component/feature is enabled.  A developer will have the option to use
the --disable-xxx switch to turn off the checks, which might come in
handy when working on a new platform or when the component is
particularly unstable.
