Before we do that, I suggest that we more rigorously define our goals. As I said before, it cannot be true that _any_ alias for a user can be used to log in, since there is no rule that says that an alias must be unique to a user. So... before we change anything, let's define and document exactly what we want to be true. Since we do have the restriction that the XMPP id for a user must be unique, I wouldn't object to allowing that as a login user name.
