I still feel this is incorrect, adding as a new contact when First name/
Last name / phone(work) number are changed for the existing contact and
imported.
For instance, admin has imported 10 contacts in the csv format. After a
few days , admin is informed that 4 contacts Last name is changed and
other 2 contacts work phone numbers are changed.
--Admin updates the csv file accordingly and imports it.
Actual Result : User 201 who is in the consumer group will be seeing
totally 16 contacts in his end user phonebook as totally 6 contacts are
modified and they are added as new contacts to the phonebook. And user
201 will NOT know which are the updated contacts and which are obsolete
leading to a confusion.
IMHO, I feel this is a bug.
It's supposed to work that way, so it isn't a bug.
I agree it is a pain though, because the admin cannot delete the original
unwanted contact. Even viewing the contact list is troublesome, because it
must be done through an actual user's phonebook.
What we really need is the ability for the admin to view/add/delete/modify Phonebook
"additional" contacts. This is covered by
http://track.sipfoundry.org/browse/XX-7026 which I have just updated.

As a consequence of the above that when First name / Last name / Phone
number are changed and imported , it should get added as a new contact
in the phonebook but there is a different behavior with the phones as
mentioned below :
For instance, a csv file has following 5 contacts, mentioning only FIRST
NAME, LAST NAME AND PHONE NUMBER and not other details , as and when
other details are modified same contact is updated.
First name Last name Phone
1.James Came 111
2.Ronald Emmerich 222
3.Steven Spiel 333
4.Al *PacinA* 444
5.*Toom* Cruz 555
1.Admin has imported 5 contacts from CSV file and the end users(Consumer
group members) see 5 contacts in their phonebooks.
2.Now, admin modifies the last name in the csv file contact _Pacin*A* to
Pacin*o*_ and uploads it. In the end user phone book *6* contacts are
seen as the last name is changed, it is added as new contact.
3.Send profiles to the Polycom, Avaya 12xx and Avya3456 phones which are
in the consumer group.
Behavior of Phones after changing the last name of a contact :
1.*Polycom* : On TUI Menu --> Features-->Contact directory, phone'
phonebook shows :
1.James Came 111
2.Ronald Emmerich 222
3.Steven Spiel 333
4.Al *Pacino* 444----> Same contact is updated in
case of Polycom
5.Toom Cruz 555
2.*Avaya 3456 :*
1.James Came 111
2.Ronald Emmerich 222
3.Steven Spiel 333
4.Al *Pacino* 444----> Same contact is updated in
case of Avaya 3456
5.Toom Cruz 555
3.*Avaya 12xx :
*1.James Came 111
2.Ronald Emmerich 222
3.Steven Spiel 333
4.Al *PacinA * 444
5.Toom Cruz 555
6.Al *Pacino* 444---> New contact added
Change the first name of contact _Toom Cruz to Tom Cruz_ and import. End
user phonebooks show *7* contacts and phones as follows :
1.*Polycom* : On TUI Menu --> Features-->Contact directory, phone'
phonebook shows :
1.James Came 111
2.Ronald Emmerich 222
3.Steven Spiel 333
4.Al Pacino 444
5.*Tom * Cruz 555----> Same contact is updated in
case of Polycom
2.*Avaya 3456 :*
1.James Came 111
2.Ronald Emmerich 222
3.Steven Spiel 333
4.Al Pacino 444
5.Tom Cruz 555----> Same contact is updated in case
of Avaya 3456
3.*Avaya 12xx :
*1.James Came 111
2.Ronald Emmerich 222
3.Steven Spiel 333
4.Al Pacino 444
5.*Toom* Cruz 555
6.Al Pacino 444
7.*Tom* Cruz 555---> New contact added
But *_when phone number is changed it is added as new contact in case of
all 3 phones_ *(Polycom, 12xx, Avaya 3456)
So my query is, how should the phones behave? All the phones should
behave in the same way either
1.Polycom and SMC should show all the contacts like in end user
phonebook OR
2.Avaya 12xx should update the same contacts like in Polycom and SMC.
Please advise.
Thanks,
Vani
