I don't think anyone would argue with the option to compress audio files, they may argue with whether it's on by default or not. Deployments and usages will vary greatly, from disk space to cpu availability. As far as which alg.: zip or mp3. Opinions are in, who ever implements it should decide what works best for them and their customers.
