I know this doesn't help much but the Aastra phones 5xi series typically work
without manual configuration.

We have a couple hundred deployed across a few clients without mush trouble.

If you log into the aastra phones web gui, there is a section to download the
logs files as well as the config files. Look at the config files and see if
they did indeed update from the server.

I am running a sipX version 4.0 on a VMware server with anAastra 53i phone for
testing purposes. The phone is running firmware version 2.4.0.96.

I am having some issues with tftp and getting the phone topickup the
configuration file .cfg

I started by configuring a standard user ?200?
Then I added the Aastra phone from the dropdown list.
     Entered the MAC address
Added the line and then changed minor negligiblesettings like date format
etc....
I sent the profile to server and restarted any servicesthat needed to be
restarted.

I Plugged the phone to the LAN and powered up. The phonedisplayed few messages
on the screen and then all is done. BUT the phone neverregistered and doesn?t
seem to have downloaded the config file.

When I went into the web UI and configured the Proxy serverand line information
the phone registered fine and could make outbound calls toPSTN.

I went into the console and to
/var/sipxdata/configserver/phone/profile/tftprootand changed few things and
rebooted the phone few times without any success.

Do we have to do any manual configuration here for tftp towork seamlessly off
the bat?

Any advice here is much appreciated.

Thanks
