Perhaps it's not firmware. Power has been a big issue for Polycom in certain situations. How are these phones being powered? POE switches, especially the cheap ones, tend to be problematic. The phones are supposed to be class 2 devices, however, class 2 power/port settings seldom work and result in frequent reboots and freezes. I would make sure they have full class 3 power or use the external power supply for testing and see how it goes.
