IF it is a prerequisite yes. Watch your CLI after you get the Centos RPM 
installed. If it installs "X" you'll see it while it gets the RPM's and 
installs it. Since Midnight Commander is VISUAL, I suppose it will HAVE TO 
install some tyoe of window handler on a system that has none. My guess is the 
other systems you've installed it on have X, KDE or GNOME installed already, so 
"X" is there before you get started in some capacity.

Are we talking the same thing? I've never once had to install x to install mc. 
I have dozens upon dozens of servers, all of them have mc installed.
Either way, you're telling me it won't be a problem and that's cool, that's 
what I wanted to make sure of, the rest I can figure out.
