I have been using sipXecs with a dedicated ADSL line for a while now with
great success. Call quality has been excellent overall, with only a few rare
or minor issues. I have not had a need for QoS on this connection.

I now have a need to set up QoS for 1) remote workers, and 2) a new install
for a client with 5 users and 1 internet connection. I have been reading up
on QoS and traffic shaping, but was hoping I could get a bit of feedback.

I'm really just looking to get a better understanding on QoS and traffic
shaping with sipXecs, not detailed instructions on how to set it up. All of
this is new to me, especially QoS, so any info is appreciated.

I would like to use existing equipment if possible, which is mainly D-Link
routers and PAP2T devices for the remote workers and a SMC7904BRB2 router
with SoundPoint phones for the new install.

Sometime late this year or early next year we will likely be changing our
firewall (currently ISA 2004). I was thinking of switching to pfSense
or Untangle due to positive feedback I have read here. Also, Tony Graziano
has also posted what looks to be very helpful info about how to get sipXecs
working with pfSense, including QoS settings, which is a plus.

Again, I'm just really looking to get a better handle on how to best set up
QoS for sipXecs. Any feedback is appreciated.
