That's not so surprising. For some phones, you configure the authentication credentials with user-name, password, and realm (= the SIP domain). For other phones, you configure the user-name and password, and the phone takes the realm from the authentication challenge and uses that in making its authentication header. So for those phones, sometimes it doesn't matter if the different parts of the system don't agree on what the SIP domain is.
