That's for digging for that one Robert!

Sounds like passing back through to Cisco engineering would be worth it
if anybody here has a Cisco support contract on their phones.

If the latest firmware (-12) doesn't fix it, then I would say this does indicate, concrete evidence that the cisco products are munging packets. (-12 fixed a lot of problems I had with -9. problems that were NOT documented in the release notes. )

sipx might be using some advanced sip features that 'the other one' doesn't use, but is necessary for the way sipx handles media.

For cisco users (we have dozens of them that I now have to ask the cfo to replace), we gave it a good fight, but cisco built their 7xxx phones for skinny, and only put sip on it kicking and screaming. Every sip or mgp enabled cisco 7xxxx phone takes money out of cisco's pocket. Especially when lots of them are being bought and sold on ebay for the value of the copper in the speaker :-)

If anyone thinks I am bashing cisco, look again. Google my posts on this group trying to get cisco's to work. I have fought an unwinable battle, mostly since in the past, I have almost always been able to find a working workaround for firmware issues. (and that the budget for this project will be broken once I buy dozens of polycom's)

The cisco's won't load the default user list in the contact list on the phone, doesn't seem to handle holds or moh or mwi right. BLF doesn't work like it should. And I like the HD voice on the poly's :-)

Through the issues with calls transferred from a cisco phone to a poly not working (local call, no ITSP, local call, no natting) and you have an unwinable battle. (did I mention that cisco wants you to pay for any new sip firmware that fixes some of the broken things?)

poly 3xx's are available on ebay for under $100 each, firmware is available for download free. polycom wants our sip business. cisco doesn't. Walking into the CFO's office now to let him know that I have already spend more time working on the problem that it would have cost to buy new phones.
