I don't follow you. You can't do the instant messages on a polycom phone.

I made a wiki page on "setting an expectation" for IM "how does this work".
You need spark or pidgin on a pc as a companion to a polycom. You need the
bria im account on a bria. I think there is a footnote about NOT using the
spark or pidgin with a bria, etc, ior you get stuck statuses.

Please read the page. You are doing something in a way I don't understand.
The message should not be received on a polycom phone. Maybe you are doing a
buddy status on polycom. Who told you to do that. If so, that will never
work.

Ok, let me see if I can get more granular with my explanation. I was in
a hurry before and didn't give the detail I should have. I apologize.

I am running sipXecs 4.2 with Polycom 650 phones.

On my phone, I went to Menu > Features > Messages > Instant Messenger >
New. I entered the extension I want to send the message to. In this
case, 200.

I press "OK", then chose "Edit" to add the message. When finished, I
press "Send". The message is sent to the phone.

When I look at the phone, the message is displayed where the alerts are
displayed: Beneath the date and time. On the recipient handset, I drill
down as I did above, going to Menu > Features > Messages > Instant
Messenger. I see the message there and clear it. I then exit out to
the home screen. The message is still there. I drill back down to the
Instant Messenger option, there are no messages.

I have tried rebooting the phone, but the message is still present.

I have looked through the wiki as you suggested, Tony, but it didn't
have any information that appears relevant to this issue.

I don't think I follow you.

I think if you go to the wiki

Wiki.sipfoundry.org

And search for: xmpp how does this work?

You will see I've given you an example of why this happens and what to
use
and not use in general.

When I upgraded to 4.2, I did a quick test of the IM system. I sent a
message from my phone to my office manager's phone. The problem, we
can't get rid of that message. I've tried rebooting the phone and we've
cleared all the messages on the phone.

Suggestions?
