I may have to draw a picture - but here is the scenario. We have an NEC system at the Courthouse (CH) - we also have sipx at the Courthouse. We have an NEC system at our Public Works Complex (PWC).
At Site PWC there are 8 trunks - that allow DID into the NEC system. Is it possible to provide Trunks from the CH site to the PWC NEC system. The goal would be to port their DID numbers to the courthouse PRI (PRI goes into a Patton) - those DID's would be setup as phantom users in Sipx - which would forward to 4xxxx - which would route the calls to a gateway located at PWC (I'm assuming that these types of 'Trunks' could run off an FXO gateway). The PWC NEC system could then route all calls thru these trunks - sipx would analyze and route it appropriately. The other goal would be to have 4 digit dialing between systems. I have several Audiocodes fxo/fxs gateways that could be utilized... After typing this scenario - it seems a whole lot easier to just buy IP phones for the PWC... Or should I just scrap the linking two systems together and spring for VOIP phones at the PWC? We have a single point to point PRI - the far end router would need updated to support QOS (it is a very old cisco router).
