As I understand presence, rls must be supported. Blf or presence means the
UA (in this case a snom) must be configured to "see another". I assume snom
supports dialogue events (does it?) so xmpp monitoring will show blf.

Example: xlite and xmpp will not allow you to see presence via xmpp of
another xlite user. Nor blf.

Your softphone must be rls compatible. I don't know of a linux version. I
know Counterpath has a linux client but was not aware it did not have the
same capabilities.

I don't have the wiki article here (stuck in traffic). Search for "how does
this work xmpp" in the wiki.

Subject: Re: [sipx-users] Linux Softphone with presence/BLF

many thanks for the quick responses. Maybe i misunderstood that there is
a difference between presence and BLF feature ;)

My main goal is to get BLF working. I did not tried the jabber features
of sipx yet but i will do that next. But i fear that this not work out
with the snom phones - so that i can see the busy state of the snom
phones in my xmpp client, right?

@tony: could you point me to the wiki article you mentioned? is it this
one?
http://sipx-wiki.calivia.com/index.php/Instant_Messaging_and_Presence_for_sipXecs

a word on the new bria-linux-client: As far as i see it is (at the
current state) a very basic sip client (without BLF).
