Paul, that wouldn't keep somebody from hitting an auto attendant and then dialing an extension if they know it.
You couldn't really do it in a dial plan entry either... dial plans are processed first so if you try to reroute those extensions somewhere, your internal users wouldn't be able to reach those phones. Off the top of my head I can't really think of a good way to do this. Interesting option and I can see where somebody might want to do this. What if in the Auto Attendants you only allowed 1 digit to be entered? Or, give those users that you don't want to be able to be dialed 4 digit extensions and only allow 3 digits to be entered in the auto attendants... then have all of your other users on the system have 3 digit extensions? This of course messes with your digit maps but you could dance around it if all of the 4 digit extensions started with the same number.
