I think it is good to discuss a bit before we start the rally.
We should first get an idea how the wiki should be organized in the future
before we start running.
Here a few cents of mine:
The http://sipx-wiki.calivia.com/ wiki should disappear, as far as I know
all that info is also on
the new "old wiki":
http://wiki.sipfoundry.org/display/oldxx/Home
With every new version of SipX the whole current wiki should be copied to
wiki.sipfoundry.org/oldxx/ (where xx is version number, not xx :),
and all pages should get a banner warning you it's not current, something
like on the new old wiki...
but then something like:
THIS DOCUMENTATION WAS WRITTEN FOR version X.X.X
The current version is Y.Y.Y
Please make sure this documentation applies to your version
Then in the normal wiki somebody should tag the pages that need to be
changed with a similar banner (part of development ??)
THIS DOCUMENTATION WAS WRITTEN FOR VERSION X.X.X
It needs to be updated to the current version
Please feel free to update this page and remove the banner
The community can then pick this up and update the pages.
New features could be added as (not completely) empty pages by the
developers as well?!, to be enhanced by the community.
All the old pages should indeed be excluded from standard indexing by the
Googles.
Searching can be done from the wiki itself or maybe by searching for
"site:wiki.sipfoundry.org/old4.0/ blabla"
So the Googles should index it, but not display it in the standard search
results (who knows how to achieve this)
Paul
BTW How is this rally going to take place/how is it organized?
