Just a question here, as I don't understand the motivation for wanting it on Ubuntu. Since this is a purpose built application for telecommunications, and it is generally run on it's own server platform without other applications, like browser, firewall, etc., what it the motivation for wanting it on Ubuntu? Is it a different set of CLI commands that is more familiar, are their some features on Ubunto that are not on Centos that would benefit the telecommunications applications?
Really, I would like to understand what drives this so I can understand some additional value adds that Ubuntu can provide to this server application that might be missing today, and available with other versions of Linux. I understand Ubuntu can be installed and give you a rich Windoze type environment for a workstation - but I'm wondering how any of that ties into the telecom pieces of sipXecs and the practical application of it. Lets discuss it in this usergroup. Since it is meant as a single purpose server, there is not a lot of focus on "how many different platforms" it can run on... I can't imagine anything being available on Centos/Red Hat which isn't available on Ubuntu or Debian. In my experience, it's typically the other way around. So I suspect it is possible. I'm rather new to the platform, but I'm going to give this build a go in the coming weeks. John _____ No virus found in this message.
