If you restored the way you said, you would be better off starting over.

IF you had exported the data and imported it (which was suggested to
you in lieu of upgrading straight to 4.4.0), or updating "linear", you
would not be having this issue.

You will find the community very helpful, but it makes it difficult
for people to want to help you when you create more issues because you
are not following sound advice.

To create the voicemail box from scratch, delete the user and recreate
it might be one approach. I am not sure it will properly adjust the
voicemail settings though. I don;t think 4.4. even properly deletes
the voicemail yet, so improper settings will also remain.

IF I were you I would go back and update a restored 4.0.5 to 4.2.1
then 4.4.0 and take that backup to your existing 4.4.0 system. IF it
were me, and it is not, I would move everything back to 4.0.4 and
update it to 4.0.5 and do a linear upgrade. OR i would import from the
4.0.4 to a clean 4.4.0 install.

other than that, i am not sure you know how to ask clearly what you
are trying to do IN THE STATE you have put yourself in. If you want to
know how to administer the system, see the wiki. It's very clear to
create a user with a new mailbox. The wiki does not contend with the
instance of "in case you did this in a way you never should have" then
you cant use the wiki.

You can certainly delete the users, but ALSO their voicemail folders,
reimport them and let the users recreate their greetings, but there is
NO guarantee they will work. In the future, you should aim before
firing, or at least listen and understand the advice given you before
taking an action you were told NOT TO do.
