If I recall there are some solutions out there. I tested a package out of
italy that was supposed to do this, a few years ago.

Ideally, you would have it sitting next to sipx on its own system and
provide the web interface, so the registration and media between it and sipx
was local.

there are options out there besides red5, but since they are all flash
based, it limits your ability to ubiquitously sever "any" type of device.

This is exactly a superb use case of what html5 can do, because if the
device (PC,Mac, Linux, smartphone of any type) is html5 compliant and can
access resources, the sky is the limit because then iphone and even
blackberry would not necessarily need an app for that.

Right now the flash based phones work for android, but also require some
inner-tinkering with the flash control panel applet, which is too hard for
users sometimes. Here's hoping something gets simplified someday soon!
