What do folks do to handle internal vs. external DNS for the SRV records?
It's my understanding that the following will work:
- The SRV records would point to "pbx.ourdomain.com"...
- External clients would attempt to resolve "pbx.ourdomain.com"
externally and receive the external IP address.
- Internal clients would attempt to resolve "pbx.ourdomain.com" through
our internal DNS and receive the internal IP address.
My issue then becomes that I want our internal DNS server to only manage
the "pbx.ourdomain.com" zone. Any request for anything else (e.g.
"www.ourdomain.com", "ourdomain.com") will still get answered by our
external DNS for internal clients.
Is this just a matter of configuring only the "pbx.ourdomain.com" zone
on the SipX server?
I am not a bind expert so this is somewhat vexing...
Thanks in advance!
