I'm guessing your firmware is up to date. I'd ask Valcom to send you their config - check to see if they are using fqdn or ip vs SRV records for registration.

Valcom have confirmed that they are able to do this internally on their test rig. In that they can call a hunt group from a Valcom VIP-172L and answer successfully on their sipX system with Polycom phones. I am bewildered am really stuck at where to go with this....
