We ended up tracing the problem to phones and not sipx. When we would register certain devices, they would work fine. When we would register LinkSys 941/942 phones, the no audio when call was picked up problem would appear.
No clue what so ever to why this is happening and we've lost months of time at this point so needed to move on. Appia doesn't know why and I have not found anything on the phones that would cause this. Everything lead to dead ends so we finally had to give up. For the application that we have in mind, we need to fire off a host somewhere for remote hosting so I posted another thread asking if anyone might have some leads. In the end, the problems don't seem to be related to sipx and all seem to be related to various things on the appia network.
