Title: RE: [Sisuite-users] Problems with DL385 servers
I use SystemInstaller to install the image, and it does have /etc/systemconfig - not sure if you have this if you create a golden image though, perhaps others on the list can comment.

Regarding the "labels" - as far as I know SystemImager does not support them (perhaps we should??) - but anyways, I suggest you dig through the list archive to see how others have worked around this.  Basically you need to make sure that your fstab (and other related files) do not contain any references to these Red Hat specific (?) labels.

Good luck,

Bernard

Hi Bernard, all:

1. Regarding SystemConfigurator version:

rpm -qa | grep systemconfigurator

systemconfigurator-2.2.2-11ef

2. More details on the errors generated at image deployment:

[…]

get_arch

DISKORDER=sd,cciss,ida,rd,hd

enumerate_disks

cciss/c0d0

DISKS=1

Partitioning /dev/cciss/c0d0

Old partition table for /dev/cciss/c0d0:

Error: Could not stat device /dev/cciss/c0d0 – No such file or directory.

parted –s -- /dev/cciss/c0d0 mklabel msdos || shellout

Error: Could not stat device /dev/cciss/c0d0 – No such file or directory.

Killing off running processes.

write_variables

[…]

3. After modifiying installation script (DISK0=/dev/cciss/host0/target0/disc) and other minor changes at the filesystems creation section so that all of them refer to the right device:

Image download, then:

[…]

Editing files for actual disk configuration…

 /dev/cciss/c0d0 -> /dev/cciss/host0/target0/disc

 /etc/fstab

 /etc/raidtab

/scripts/t2-2.sh: 461: cannot create /a/etc/systemconfig/hardware.lst: Directory nonexistent

Added SCSI device 0ell:0046 using module cciss to hardware.lst

Hope this puts a little light on all this…

Kind regards,

Francisco

Hi Francisco:

SystemImager =/= SystemConfigurator - they have different version numbers.

Cheers,

Bernard

Hi Bernard,

First of all, let me clarify that the hd is actually
recognized as /dev/cciss/host0/target0/disc. Sorry for
the -possible- misunderstandings.

I'll give you more details tomorrow (I'm not in front
of the machine right now), but the hardware.lst error
is related to a subdir that doesn't exist, so the file
cannot be created.

SI version is 3.6.3, as far as I remember. I'll double
check it tomorrow as well.

Kind regards,
Francisco
