I regret to say that this is getting ridiculous. Apache's Position on the JSPA has been drowned by a stream of news about minor Tomcat 4.x or 3.x releases. The news header on the jakarta front page is a convenient way to get a little publicity, however I think that we collectively need to apply some common sense and avoid abusing our open ways. For log4j announcements, I ask myself if there was a log4j announcement made in the last month and if so I refrain from making that announcement. I must admit that my own announcement on the 18th of February did contribute to drown down Apache's position on the JSPA. I intend to resuscitate Apache's position from "stale news" status to "fresh news" within the next few minutes.
