I wonder if this signing stuff is related to Gatekeeper complaining on 10.9 
about the updated Skim. 

And do you know if the expiration date for the certificate is crucial? I saw 
that mine is to expire at the end of the year. Is it possible to extend a 
certificate, i.e. using the same keys?
