Thanks Ted,

This is occurring to me on more than just bold text and does not occur
in Preview. For example, if I open a pdf, some of the text will be missing.
If I re-open the same file, often another different subset of text will
be missing. If I re-open the file a few times, I can usually get the problem
to (temporarily) go away.
