In this case notes are exported as genuine PDF annotations. The  
tooltip icon has nothing to do with Skim, that's an Acrobat feature.

If you save as PDF from the print panel the note gets embedded as part  
of the PDF data stream, it's not a note in any way, it's just an  
embedded image.

That's almost certainly not a bug in Skim. There are a few (known)  
system crasher in the print framework on Leopard, in particular with  
duplex printing...

...but these seem to be a crashers coming from URL Manager Pro. I  
guess it plugs into the system somewhere, and does so in a buggy way.  
You should contact the developers of that app instead. It's definitely  
not our responsibility.
