It seems to work pretty well for me. I'm running Skim 1.1.10 and Mac OS X 10.5.4 on an intel-based iMac. I use an external shell script, "skim" by Ted Pavlic (http://links.tedpavlic.com/shell_scripts/skim), in order to jump from Emacs to the corresponding line of the PDF file.
