Most of the procedural code related to the astronomical calculations I think I can understand. Its mainly the windowing related code that I seem to get hung up on. Maybe my problem isn't Pascal then. Just my lack of knowledge when it comes to windows API code.
I've had no problems getting the program to compile and run/debug under Delphi 7. It took me the better part of a night to figure out the component thing (that seems to be unique to Pascal), but it seems like I have a good base to work off of now.
But.....
My version of Delphi 7 is a trial version and it runs out in about 20 more days. Do you know of any free development IDEs that we could use? Is Borland's Kylix a free, unlimited version of Delphi for linux? Like I said before, I tried to use Lazarus, a free Windows Pascal IDE, but could not get very far with it.
Yeah, if you could pass along one or two files that you ran through the converted, I'd be interested in seeing them. I'm not a huge fan of converters or code generators as the code is usually painful to read, but they can be a good guide when doing the conversion by hand.
Also, are there any documented design goals? I would assume that Patrick is doing all the development work right now and therefore the design goals are all in his head. But, it would be good if there was a design target for the next alpha version and for a future stable version. Written design goals help alot, especially once more than one person is working on a project.
Eh...that's probably enough for now. Time to go to work.
