  Re question 2: If you don't care about the names of the stars, you 
could replace the name field with the magnitudes, and then only for 
those within your specific magnitude range. This would, of course, 
presumes that you have a file that you are importing into CatGen. (I 
guess I was taking a clue from question 1, that you have a file to 
import for the asterisms.)
