Yes, this also works.

This is extrange. I have two almost identical Fedora Core 2
installations, and the other computer didn't report any error.

Perhaps this is a good idea.
Aside from my silliness, one of the reasons I made
mistakes trying to make the database work is that
even when the comet+asteroids databases are loaded,
there is no indication that they are: there is nothing
in Configuration > System > Asteroid (or Comet) Checking
indicating the number of the asteroids loaded, as
there is in Configuration > Pictures > Object.
I tried to upload them every time I run CDC, until
I realized this wasn't necessary. Duh...
But it seems to be working fine now.
All was esentially my fault.

Ok.
One more question:
CDC insists in creating the directory ~/cartes_du_ciel/, even
when there is no reference to $HOME in ~/.cartesduciel.ini file.
Is there any way to prevent this to happen?
