Hi,
Here's a little analysis I did using CdC to identify stars in the
Singapore image puzzle. I have/will post an annotated image in
the "files" section, when I figure out how!

I set my CdC to a latitude of -59 degrees (instead of +39 where I
live in Washington DC; not particularly sensitive, I just wanted to
see the SCP. Then set the view to the 90 degree span, and centered
the south celestial pole on the screen. Here's the header on CdC the
window:
 "12h40m C: 5h52m -89d52m l"+90d00m 0:0d ARC HZ Magn: 6.5 Cat: BSC"

On my 18 LCD monitor, this produced an image at almost *exactly* the
same scale as the original image printed on a laser printer on 8-1/2
x 11 paper.

This is a real stellar image. It's easy to recognize Crux, Musca,
Centaurus and TrA, and I have annotated the image (yellow dots) with
that. By the way, it helps to display the image a full resolution
and not at .5x or 2x. However, there are other bright stars (grey
dots), particularly closer to the pole, that I couldn't identify as
belonging there in the same orientation as the others I identified.
This leads me to wonder if this is a composite of two or more
exposures, taken at different times of the night. In particular, the
track lengths are significantly longer for those inner star circles.
The grey stars could be part of Hydrus or Octans, but it isn't as
clearly obvious as the others. A strange world, isn't it, where the
stars closer to the celestial pole rotate faster than those farther
away, in a kind of Keplerian rotation <vbg>. Note that the track
that epsilon Centauri lies on is actually a superimposition of two
tracks, the other possible HR4951.

  Regards,
Dick
