Rod, Actually, I'm asking here at Steve's suggestion,
(see: http://www.deepskyobserver.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=197 ) <Grin> but you are correct that he IS very responsive when the question involves his DeepSky Astromomy Software. Part of this issue is that I don't care for the ugly grey squares (hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes here) that come with nebula representation, I prefer symbols. The other part is more complex. The charts provided in DAS by Dean Williams are excellent as a "quick & dirty" chart but sometimes lack some interactivity that I'd like especially when you toggle on "all outlined nebula" instead of just the objects on the DAS spreadsheet. I want to be able to know what those extra nebula are (yes, I have a question in to Dean's email) and the easiest way of solving my curiosity is to open a CduC chart to poke around in. For example, in DAS, when I look at Star: Meissa Const: Ori R.A. : 5h 35m Dec. : 9d 56' Mag : 3.4 And turn on "all outlined nebula" there is nebulosity displayed around Meissa, a broken patch e of Meissa and around a star a bit to the w of Meissa. But since DAS only gives me details on items that were on the spreadsheet, I need to look in CduC to try to discover what the mystery items are.
