There are some star-charting programs for PDAs. See the "hand-held computers" section of S&T's software list at <http://skytonight.com/resources/software/3304926.html> for several. The first, "Astromist" has tons of features, but it costs something like $40 to register, and without that it's pretty limited in depth of star fields. Others I've tried for my Palm all come up short in one way or another.
At <http://astrotips.com/> (the major reference for astro-software), it looks like many of the most recent are for PDAs and cell phones. My Palm is a cheap one with a low-res screeen, so it's worse than most in that respect, but as long as you don't expect very deep star-catalogs or a large image database, memory hasn't been a problem. So it's a nice idea for visual astronomy (for less than huge scopes), if you can deal with the screen limitations. -John --- daniel_williams_is_great <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Would anybody consider (who has more programming knowlege than me- > which wouldn't be difficult!- be interested in developing a version > for PDA, like the poll I spotted, or indeed one for Nintendo DS or PSP > as homebrew (I know a bit more about that end of things) for those > people who don't have/ cannot afford a laptop, or just like having a > copy of the software wherever they are (eg. me!) > > maybe this is ridiculous, > > Daniel > ____________________________________________________________________________________ Need a quick answer?
