Hi Geoff,
I think the misunderstanding is with the word 'interface'. In this case it has nothing to do with the human user interface of CdC. The interface to which we (Sander, Paul and myself) are referring is a method for communicating with and controlling CdC from another program running on the same or another remote computer. In this particular instance that Paul is discussing, he would very much like to control CdC from within his AstroPlanner product. For example, a user could use AstroPlanner to find a particular star based on some search parameters. Once found, CdC could be 'called' from within AstroPlanner and be used to display the star location at a particular time and place. The 'called' is where the TCP/IP interface comes in. A little background can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_protocol_suite Hopefully the above refers to the correct wheel! :-) If not, please let me know. Regards Robin P.S. I have no connection with AstroPlanner other than being a very happy customer who does some beta testing and produces a whole lot of probably useless scripts! -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Geoff Dudley Sent: 02 May 2007 13:37 To: [email protected] Subject: [skychart-discussion] TCP/IP interface Hi everyone, Am I missing something here? Why are you guys reinventing the wheel? CDC runs beautifully on every machine I've installed it on, from Win95 to XP Pro. Why change it? --geoff [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
