Hi Patrick,

thanks for this explanation. Great tool! I believe I asked for something 
along these lines a long time ago and you sure implemented it way better 
than I could have requested it. My confusion was that at first the rose 
was there but then when I zoomed out and back in it disappeared, never 
to be seen again. I recalled something like a scale dependent appearance 
of the rose but it didn't seem to work. I'll try to reproduce the 
problem and log a bug if needed. For now I simply have the rose always 
display.
