Hi Steve, I write the ASCOM driver for the Celestron scopes.
You seem to be doing everything correctly. I've seen this before where a serial connection works with other applications but not with the ASCOM driver. The impression I get is that it is something to do with the VB serial driver that ASCOM uses. So I've been working on using a different serial driver with the Celestron driver and I'm hoping to get this out fairly soon, in a few days, once I've got the installation and registering working. Would you be interested in a beta test version? If you have a real cable that you can use to confirm things are working with that it would help but with the lack of serial ports on modern laptops I can see that may be difficult.
