Strange indeed. What version of CdC are you running? At times the V3 telescope 
control has be broken. I just tried on 2,76 and 3.1 and connected right up. 
Also are you running the old Meade Ascom driver or the modified one that 
supports the pulse guide? Mine is the pulse guide one. Should not make a 
connection difference. 
I have exactly the opposite problem with AstroPlanner. I can connect via 
BT-Aircable using ASCOM with AP but not using AP native Meade drivers and BT. 
AP connect fine hardwired serial ASCOM or native AP driver.
Maybe someone on the ASCOM board can tell what the error message is about.
