No.  I thought a null modem switched a couple of channels like those associated 
with the transmit/receive pins of my DB9.  Since the cable I have successfully 
communicates with the scope using non-ASCOM drivers, I thought a Null modem 
could screw things up to include maybe damaging the electronics in my scope.
