Dear Gordon,
I think you'll like this. Use your Skype command key and then type the letter c
for chat and upper row numbers 1 to 0 depending on the number of open chat
windows. It works.
Now tell me something, I don't even know how to close a chat window in the
default view. does anyone know?
Cheers,
JPR

  Hi!
I discovered that you can switch on the fly through conversations using CTRL
+ Tab combination but it works only in one way, combining Shift with it
does'n switch backwards. It's better than changing the active chat on
Conversation list but still not fast enaugh for my taste. I believe there
should be some combination with numbers. Alt + numbers are taken, CTRL +
numbers also.. Maybe CTRL + Shift + numbers or CTRL + Alt + numbers.. Let
Doug think about it, maybe there is a solution.
