hello Robert
i can start and stop skype talking using these commands
and i was told by 1 person that when i chose not available it showed me as
online
in one of the reply posts it said it would show me as away
however 1 problem that is on exit of skype talking
it says to confirm i want to close skype talking but it also says it will
unload skype if i have it set to that way
how do i set it so that it only closes skype talking and does not unload
skype
by the way i appreciate all the help you have given me so far

As another poster said, I believe it depends on whether the
contact is using Skype 4/5 beta or an older version such as 3,8,
but since i haven't really used any versions earlier than 4,2, I
am not sure. In Skype 4,2, contacts who are Skype Me will show
as online and contacts who are not available will show up as away
from within the Skype contacts list itself. In any case,
however, the Skype Talking contacts manager will show contacts
that are Skype Me and Not Available, regardless of Skype version;
press CTRL + ALT + Shift + F11 to open the Skype Talking contacts
manager dialog from anywhere and then arrow down the list of your
contacts. Note that in version 4, neither the Skype Me nor the
Not Available options are available from within Skype itself; you
will have to use Skype Talking each time to set these statuses.
Also, when I mentioned stop pressing the keystroke, you needed to
release all of the keys, not just backspace.

i looked there and found those 2 choices
i did what you said and it said yvonne oliver is not available
does this show up to other users that have me in their contacts
as not
available or does it show me as away
i say this because when i let go of the keys it said yvonne
oliver is away
and there is no option in the menu for status
can it be saved to the status menu?
or do i have to do this each time i want to show as not available
one other thing you said stop pressing the keys once it says the
one i want
does this mean i still have the keys pressed down and just stop
pressing the
backspace key or do i let go of all the keys

If you have Skype Talking running, press CTRL + ALT + Shift +
Backspace repeatedly to cycle through the available statuses,
which include Skype Me and Not Available. Once you've found the
status you want, stop pressing the keystroke and it will change
your status after a couple of seconds.
I am currently having to use an old Windows XP laptop while my
Windows 7 Notebook is being repaired. Just for fun, a few weeks
ago I uninstalled Skype 4,2 and installed 3,8 (3,8 does not work
in Windows 7). Let's just say that I updated it back to 4,2
within about 10 minutes of installing it because I was having
some issues with it and I was a lot more comfortable with Skype
4,2. But getting to the point, when the menus decided to speak
properly, while I did not see the Skype Me option in the online
status menu, I did see the Not Available option. So I think
this
means that the Not Available status was removed as of Skype 4.
In Skype 4,2, when people are set to not available, they appear
as away (contacts appear as online when they are Skype Me). The
only you can find out whether they are Skype Me/Not Available is
by using Skype Talking (either by listening to the status alert
or by pressing CTRL + ALT + Shift + F11 to bring up the Skype
Talking Contacts Manager).

I exactly do not know what's Not available myself, tough I know
they
removed
it in Skype 4.0 as well as Skypeme. But I found an utility to
set your
status as SkypeMe!
I just copied into my public dropbox folder, so you can download
it here:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4752212/Xenofilia.exe
It's a portable archive, so no intallation needed; you simply
open this
file, click on the "SkypeMe" button (possibly you'll need JAWS
cursor),
then
authorize it to communicate with Skype, and you're done.
