Hello,
The warning about unloading Skype will still show up in the
dialog box, regardless of whether you actually have it set to
unload Skype or not. So, providing you have unchecked the
checkbox labelled "When exiting Skype Talking, also quit Skype if
running", you have nothing to worry about. Also, in the same tab
as the checkbox for unloading Skype when exiting Skype Talking,
there is a checkbox labelled "Confirm when exiting Skype
Talking". If you uncheck this, then when you issue the Skype
Talking quit command, Skype Talking will close immediately
without presenting the confirmation dialog.
In my experience, the CTRL + ALT + Shift + T command worked for
me and I had not assigned it to Skype Talking, so I think this
command may be built into the program itself. But here is how to
set a hotkey for Skype Talking (this should also work for other
programs as well). I haven't done this on my Windows 7
computer, so these steps are from Windows XP Home:
1. Press WindowsKey + M to go to the desktop.
2. Locate Skype Talking.
3. Press ALT + Enter to open the properties for the Skype
Talking application (this is different to the Skype Talking
preferences dialog and is not associated with the actual Skype
Talking application).
4. You should land on the shortcut tab (if not, press CTRL + Tab
until you reach this).
5. Once you are on this tab, press the Tab key a few times until
you reach a field called "shortcut". This is a hotkey field, so
at this point press the key combination you would like to assign
to Skype Talking.
6. Once you have entered your hotkey, tab to the OK button and
press enter.
Now you should have a hotkey that starts Skype Talking. Note
that I have not actually assigned hotkeys myself, so towards the
end of the instructions I had to make a few assumptions; feel
free to correct me if i'm wrong.

thank you for that
i went to the configuration and unchecked the box you mention
i then pressed on ok and the reader said saved
i pressed the closing command and it still said that it will
close skype
i chose yes anyway and after saying goodbye i found i could go up
and down
my contacts list so skype still remains even though it said it
would not
i pressed the key command to start skype talking and then closed
it down
again and contacts were still there
obviously this is now working and i can start and stop skype
talking without
unloading skype as well
thank you for your help on that
just one thing how do i do the first bit where i configure it
from the desk

Regarding the hotkey for launching SkypeTalking, this is not set
automatically. You must first set it, say, from the properties
of the
desktop icon.For the other thing, do the following:
1. when you launched SkypeTalking, press alt+ctrl+shift+p for
going to the
preferences menu;
2. with tab key, search a folder which says, "Automatically
quit Skype
when
I close SkypeTalking", or something like that, and uncheck it
with space
bar;
3. with tab go to the Ok button and press space. You should
hear JAWS or
your sapi, depending on your ST configuration, telling,
telling:
"Settings
saved".
