I recommend Skype 5.0 beta 2 at this point, over any Skype 4.x or 3.x version. For Skype 3.x users, the interface change does take some getting used to, but I believe Skype 5.0 beta 2 is quite usable, inasmuch as that's all I use myself on Windows.
I'm curious what, excluding interface changes, would make people prefer Skype 3.8 over Skype 5.0 at this time. My apologies if I missed this information, which is entirely possible.
