Hello, before I begin I would like to thank everyone who offered advice and suggestions on how to connect Skype to Facebook. I followed everyone's instructions. Unfortunately, to no avail. What I discovered was that the Skype that is installed when you go to the website www.ninite.com does not include Facebook integration. I went to the Skype webpage downloaded the latest Skype for Windows 6.0 followed the instructions to connect Skype to Facebook and all is well.
For those of you who are used to using Skype talking you will find that it still has some functionality with Skype 6.0, meaning it will still read messages generated by Skype contacts and you can still answer hangup calls, etc. it will not however read messages from messenger contacts, nor will it read Facebook messages. You should also note that you cannot get to messenger or Facebook contacts using the Skype talking contact list. The reason for this, of course, is due to the fact that Skype or Microsoft has not updated the desktop API in quite some time. The good news for JAWS users is that Doug has done an excellent job with the latest scripts and Skype support in JAWS is second to none. This does not help. Unfortunately, those of us who would prefer to use other screen readers, such as nonvisual desktop access or window eyes. Hope this helps and thank you very much.
