Skype/Microsoft has a publicly stated position on this: They have no intention of integrating Facebook and, presumably, other non-Skype protocol messages into the Skype API. Their philosophy is that developers wishing to include those connections can use the APIs of the respective services directly. I am not a fan of this decision, but I'm announcing it again here so people know that this is not a waiting game, it's a closed issue unfortunately.
